Air guns in the USA

Air Gunner magazine - latest issue

Many of you think that we just say good things about the airguns and kit we review. Well, let me dispel you of that myth. Only last month our technical editor was given a rifle to look at and after a day’s testing he rang me and the editor in chief saying he thought the rifle was not good enough for the market. Even though time was running out and the publication had to be at press within days, he caused himself more work by finding another rifle to test. We spoke to the manufacturer concerned and explained the problems we had with the rifle and being the decent company they are they have decided to solve these problems before sending us the improved rifle to test. That’s how it works at Air Gunner, Airgun World and Airgun Sports. If we think the product is not good enough we don’t review it. After all, we would like you to read about something that is worth having than wasting valuable pages on something that’s a dud.

And so it is with the Rivers West test. They challenged us to test their new jacket and trousers to the extreme. This sounded fun, so we set about abusing their products as much as we could. It involved plenty of water, barbed wire and brute force. We thought their kit was great, to find out more see page 76.

The other main product that we have given a thorough testing is the brand new S400 Super-Lite from Air Arms. This rifle has an improved light weight stock, improved trigger mechanism and a host of other features that will make you want to own one.

Moving away from product tests we have a feature about an airgun club with a difference. Deanshanger Rifle Club (DARC) is an airgun club for the visually impaired near Milton Keynes. It really goes to show that airgunning is a sport for everyone. Finally, I would like to thank you for the feedback you sent us through their answers for ‘Starter for Ten’ over the last few months and for filling in the more recent email readership survey. We have taken heed of your views, so watch out for big changes with your magazine.
